English version
The project Empower to Grow, Using Community Organizing and Advocacy Methods to Empower Disadvantaged Communities in Central Slovakia aims to support the necessary community organizing work in 6 Roma communities (Slovenská Ľupča, Skalica, Banská Bystrica – Cementárenská, Banská Bystrica – Hrb, Banská Štiavnica – Šobov and Banská Štiavnica – Povrazník) where CKO has been working for 2-5 years. The aim when working with vulnerable Roma communities should not only be to help them, but also to empower them, to bring them together, to make them feel needed and human, to build trust and relationships, and to give everyone the feeling that everyone matters. This can only be achieved through multiple approaches while bringing them together. Because only systematic and uniquely tailored solutions can be effective.

The project „Empower to Grow, Using Community Organizing and Advocacy Methods to Empower Disadvantaged Communities in Central Slovakia“ received a grant from Norway in the amount of 173 970 €. The project was co-financed in the amount of 26 095 € from the state budget of the Slovak Republic.
The project aims to link the tool of community organizing with other community-based approaches such as community development, advocacy, public campaigns, and education in these communities. Although the problems of the Roma community may look simple, the solutions can be very complicated and involve many different areas.
